Outline of Lesson:
The teacher will begin this assignment by creating a community blog with the students. The students can put some input into the design of the blog. The community blog will be used by the students to learn the material about the other mental-health issues, as well as for posting other future assignments. Each group's blog will be sent to the teacher. The teacher will look over each blog before posting it on the class blog.
The students will be split into groups and are to create their own blogs about an issue they chose to do. The students must incorporate information on health strategies to deal with their specific issue, signs and symptoms of their mental-health issues and each group must have a section on how media influences self-image and behaviour.
The students must use a variety of ways to present their information (eg. videos, pictures, graphs, statistics, etc.).
Assessment:
The students will be responsible for presenting their blogs to the class. Students will also be required to read each others blog to learn about each issue and make their own notes. The class following, the students will do an in-class essay briefly providing the health strategies and the signs and symptoms of each issue, and explain, in their opinion, about media and self-image/behaviour.
